Anuradhapura (Ancient Ceylon)

Anuradhapura is a sacred city which is in North Central Province in Sri Lanka. Anuradhapura is the first ancient capital in Sri Lanka. The city of Anuradhapura is situated approximately 220km away from Colombo and founded in 6th century BC. Today this ancient capital of Sri Lanka has become sacred to the whole Buddhist world where situated many "Stupa" including with the largest Stupa "Ruwanwalimaha Saya", Also the sacred Bo tree "Jayasiri mahabodiya" situated with its surrounding monasteries covering the area and one of the worlds major archaeological sites.
